BOHO CHIC REVEAL: PART II

Welcome to Part II of our Boho Chic Reveal! We believe that good design is good for the soul, and the power of transformation inherent in the remodel process is nothing short of remarkable. We love nothing more than guiding our clients through this journey … from influencing and planning this complex yet powerful progression to experiencing the thrill of the reveal through their eyes. Your home truly IS your sanctuary.

We are delighted to share the Boho Chic master suite with you, which proved to be as dramatic of a transformation as that of the great room of the home featured in last week’s blog post. We incorporated new windows, strategically placed mirrored doors, and added a textural layering of whites to infuse new light & life into this formerly dark and dreary space. Sprinkling in some ‘old world’ elements -- including rustic hardwoods, carrara marble and whitewashed pine (in this case, cladding the headboard wall) -- added beautiful character while enhancing the zen quality of the reformed space.

big renovations on a small budget

Much of the fun of this project came from executing on a tight budget. Design Bar was founded on the premise of making really good design attainable to a wide range of budgets, and we proved that here! As you peruse the ‘befores’ and ‘afters’ below, take note of the ‘Pro Tips’ that offer up some creative ideas for how to be bold yet budget-oriented in your design projects.

Pro Tip: GO GREEN! You’ll notice an abundance of plants and trees installed throughout our Boho Chic home. Not only is this nod to the 70’s (and original character of this home) on-trend, but it is a fantastic way to add color and bring the outside in. AND, it’s a remarkably cost effective way to accessorize and add warmth! The Fiddle Leaf Fig is a to-die-for D|B favorite. To take it a step further, use baskets as pots to add tremendous texture at an affordable price point. And, SOURCE CREATIVELY. While many fabulous finds in our projects are Design Bar originals, we like to supplement with super budget-friendly accents -- as in this case, this groovy chandelier from RH Baby & Child.

Pro Tip: REFLECT! Mirrors are an amazing way to brighten a space without breaking the bank. Whether in the form of antiqued or clear, wall-hung or leaner -- or, as in this case, built-in mirrored doors -- they have a magical way of enhancing light, adding character and making a small space feel twice the size.

Pro Tip 2: THINK PREFAB. Prefab vanities are all the rage, and we love them! You get a vanity, countertop, backsplash and sinks, all-in-one ... often at an unbeatable price! Two of our favorite sources are Restoration Hardware and, for more affordable options, @signaturehw.
